Inside Unbox's Creative Space

We are Unbox Product Design— an agile team of designers, engineers, brand specialists, and creators located in San Francisco, where style meets technology. We build products, design brands, and shape ideas for the future, and it all happens in our studio space. 

Our studio is where we work lean, fast, and collaboratively. It’s the root of our creative discussions and where hands-on experimentation takes place. And we are excited to give you a tour of our new studio located in SoMa, SF!

Designed to think better.

Our studio is filled with natural light and intentionally designed to support focus, creativity, and collaboration. Every corner has its purpose. There is a space for deep work, team meetings, hands-on workshops, and casual breaks, including a kitchen that opens out to an outdoor patio. It’s comfortable, considered, and built to keep us connected.

Mostly white, the space reflects both sunlight and studio lights, making everything bright and open. The minimal color palette helps eliminate distractions, while curated elements such as project posters, books, plants, and bursts of color from our Post-its and brainstorming boards prompt our creative energy.

From quiet solo moments to lively group brainstorms around the whiteboard or in the conference room, this space flexes with the way we work. It’s calm when it needs to be, with additional ambient beats in the background at times. It’s loud when ideas are flying. It supports us, challenges us, and gives our work room to grow.

Step into our main office area.

This is where each team member has a dedicated desk space to focus on personal projects, dive into deep work, or reset between collaborative sessions. Our studio library also lives in this space. It's always within reach, filled with design references, material samples, and books that fuel our creative process.

Project posters line the walls, which is a quiet reminder of where we've been and what we're building next.

At the center of it all: the whiteboard. It's where we gather for creative critiques, weekly syncs, or concept sprints. Whether we’re sketching ideas, mapping flows, or challenging assumptions, this shared space helps ideas unfold together.

The vibe here is calm, but not silent. Everyone works differently, some with music in their headphones, others bouncing ideas across desks. It’s a focused, collaborative environment where we take the work seriously, but never forget that good design requires time, space, and a team that looks out for one another.

As a team rooted in empathy, craftsmanship, and innovation, our designs are driven by real-world needs and future possibilities. From concept to production, we push the boundaries of what’s possible—creating holistic product experiences that resonate and inspire. In doing that, these spaces also add to our ideas and working styles.

Conference Room

Where we present, challenge, and refine ideas. From project critiques to team-wide discussions, this room holds many of our defining moments.

Workshop

Our hands-on zone. Here, we sketch, prototype, and test ideas using physical materials. This is a space where we step away from designing on the screen. It’s where concepts take shape, early-stage proof-of-concepts are built, and ideas start to show their potential.

This space is designed for iteration. We use it for rapid prototyping, fabrication, and small-scale assembly, allowing us to evaluate functionality, refine fit, and make on-the-spot modifications. Whether we’re testing mechanisms, exploring materials, or engineering toward a final product, the workshop helps us validate ideas quickly and push designs forward with intention.

We focus on bridging the gap between vision and execution with precision and efficiency.

Outdoor Space

Just outside the kitchen, our open-air patio offers a quiet shift from the flow of studio work. It’s where we gather for team lunches, take late-afternoon breaks, or step outside for a few moments of reflection.

Out on the patio, you’ll hear the soft buzzing of the city, while we’re nestled in a quieter area of SoMa. It’s a reminder that we’re designing in the heart of innovation. Whether it’s catching up with a team member, getting fresh air between meetings, or simply enjoying the light, this space brings a needed balance to our daily work lives.
