Solar power generator

With severe weather and over-extended energy infrastructure, households are looking for alternative power supplies in times of need. However many home solar power and battery systems require major investments, retrofitting, and installation time. These systems don’t address the larger population needs who tend to live in urban areas, in multi-family apartment buildings, and who are budget-conscious. Thus leaving most families in the dark when disasters strike.

The Ubio Solar Generator with a built-in inverter and battery was conceived to solve this problem. Users would have the option to plug into either the grid system or and solar panel to charge the battery. Multiple ports could power multiple devices, and run small appliances, or cooktops. Together this solution could provide countless homes across the globe with a reliable and dependable power supply when they need it most.

Design for Manufacturing

To ensure scalability and efficiency in production, we refined the design for streamlined manufacturing. The product design balances durability and portability, while the engineering part design considers manufacturability, cost-effective tooling, and ease of assembly.

Visualization

Clear representation is key to demonstrating a product’s form and function. High-fidelity renderings create lifelike images and animations that highlight critical details—from user interface to interactive features—offering a comprehensive view of the product’s design.

User Interface (UI)

The control panel placement was strategically designed for a human-centric experience, ensuring clear visibility when standing above the generator. This enhances usability in high-stress scenarios and low-light environments. The layout provides quick access to essential ports and indicators, while the LCD display delivers real-time power monitoring and intuitive graphic communication.

Engineering

From concept to CAD, our mechanical engineering expertise ensures products are designed for durability, efficiency, and manufacturability. CAD assembly and part construction optimize internal space and component layout. While detailed part design refines external geometry, granular details for precision fit, and considerations of usability and functionality.

Concept Development

From early ideation to final execution, our user-centered approach to design thinking. The Ubio Generator had to consider battery layout and weight distribution, user interface, accessibility, portability, connectivity, and marketability simultaneously. This iterative process ensures product viability, market success, and return on investment. Here, we are generating, refining, and curating ideas that address user needs, add value, increase functionality, and differentiate from competitors.
